Paige Wilkinson,Stephen Sheppard,Steven Nafziger con The Impact of Exhibitions on the Auction Price of Work for Living Artists
The exhibition of art work is generally understood as having a positive impact on the value of the work exhibited as well as the value of other works by the artist. Yet, there is a surprising absence of careful data-driven analysis of the change in the values of art works associated with exhibitions at galleries and museums. Framed by a contextualization of the idiosyncrasies of the art market, this book addresses that gap through econometric analysis of the correlation between exhibitions of contemporary artists over their careers and their auction sales - using an original data set of 375 artists and over 47,000 sales.
